A Gisborne Wedding. At Holy Trinity Church, Gisborne, on Wednesday last, the marriage took place of Mr. Ernest Corbett' and Miss Gertie I'oswillo, youngest daughter of tho lato Mr. Poswillo, the liev. Dawson Thomas officiating. The bride was given away by Mr. G. i'attersall and was attended by Miss A. M. Connell as bridesmaid. Mr. I*'. Cox was tho best man. There was a large gathering of friends and relatives lo witness the ceremony and a reception was subsequently held in Wootton's tea rooms. Sir Joshua and Lady Williams left for Christchurch last evening by tho Maori. Sir Arthur and Lady Guinness left for tho south last evening. Miss Speed returned on Sunday to Wellington from a visit to Marlborough. The Hon. D. Buddo and Mrs. Buddo left for Christchurch last evening. Miss Christina Smith (Rotorua) is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amelias Smith. Lady Islington, the ITon. Joan DicksonPovnder, Miss Stapleton-Cotton, and Miss Vo'rmirald left for Christchurch last evening. Mr. Nosworthy, M.P., and Mrs. Noswortliy left for their homo in the south last evening. Sir John and Lad}* Findlay loft for Auckland yesterday. Miss Cooper returns to New Zealand bv the Athenie. Mrs. 11, Crawford and her son aro also cxpected by t'he same steamer. Mr. and Mrs. Morris (Napier) aro expected to return to Neiv Zealand by tho Athenie due in Wellington to-day. A special meeting of tho women's branch of the lleforra League was held in Bouleott Chambers last evening, Mrs. Newman presiding. Matters jn connection with the forthcoming election were discussed and various arrangements made. Four new members were elected. There was a good attendance of members and much interest , was taken in tho proceedings. Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Newman met the ladies of itoseneath at a meeting held for the purpose of making arrangements in connection with Dr. Newman's candidature for Wellington East. Various matters were dealt with and a committee was appointed to canvass the electorate. Some general business was also transacted. Th« Orphans' entertainment to bo held in the Town Hall on November 21, for the benefit of the hospital, promises to bo a most successful affair. An excellent programme has been planned, and all tho arrangements aro turning out most satisfactorily. A meeting of tho executive committee was held yesterday afternoon in tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board office, and there were present Mts. Corliss, Miss Payne, the Rev. W. Evans, Dr. Hardwicke Smith, Dr. Izard, Mr. F. Crom'oio, and the joint secretaries, Miss M'Gregor and j\lr. Watson. In tho abrenco of Miss Richmond, Mrs. Corliss presided, and a satisfactory amount of business was transacted. A meeting of tho general committco will bo hckl in tho same placo on Monday, November 8, at 5 p.m. Dr. Copeland Savage (Auckland) and Mrs. Savage, together with Mrs. Savage, sen., and their children, are returning to New. Zealand from a visit to England by the Athenie, due to-day. Miss Henshelwood will give a gas-oook-ing demonstration at Fullford's Hall, Brooklyn, to-day, at 3 o'clock. Examples of paper-bag cooking will also be given.
