WOOL SALES.

INDUSTRIAL UNKEST AND THE PIUCES. Catalogues for the first wool sale of the eason which is to bo held ou November close on Friday nest. It is anticipated hat. the offering will he in the vicinity f 1000 bales which is about what was to >e expected although in a couple of rests' time wool will be coming in very ast. Hogget wool is stated not' to have pened up very well, this class of sheep laving apparently done badly during the rinter. Eives show well-grown, strong, ?001 in good condition. It is too scon to udge the clip yet', and a much better ample will be forthcoming at tho Dcembcr sale. As to prices, the market is ower at tbo present time than it has icen for ten months and it would seem hat tho wool-grower will, of necessity, lavo to recast' his idea of values. Whilst ho statistical position is sound the strikes nd general unrest have apparently upset he market. The attached table of BradDrd top quotations should' make interesttig, if not enjoyable, reading to the wool-, rower

rhs above indicates that values arc ruing very low—in fact, tliey are lower now han tliey were last January when tho invest prices of the season wero reached, .'he outlook is not very encouraging, but iriees have been low before and a quick ecovery came. History may repeat itself, is matters stand, wool is cheap enough to ttract speculation. There is an old sayng in the trade which may bo repeated icre, viz., "When wool is dear ifs dangerus; when it's very dear it's very daneroiis. When wool is cheap it's safe; ;hen it's very cheap it's very safe."
