C. Drake, postmaster at l'etonc, retires from the service on superannuation to-day, and as usual has been yranto.l three months' leave of absence 011 full pay. The vacancy will be tilled by tho appointment of Mr. Thomas Ward, of To AlO, and Mr. J. Itedmond, postmaster at Wa verify, comes to Te Aro. Mr. CI. P. Crichton. of the Wellington Post Of'ice stall', has boon promoted to be postmaster at Waveriey. Sir Arthur Csuinne.--.s (Speaker of the House of Kcpresentativcs), and Lady Guinness, left for J.yttelton last evening en route to Oreynioutli. ■Major T. V. Shepherd. Sergc-ant-at-Arras in the House of Representatives, left Wellington yesterday for Nelson, where he intends to spend a short holiday bc-forc- returning to Auckland. Sir Joshua Williams, Mr. Justico Denniston, and Mr. Justice Sim were passengers for the south by last night's ferry steamer. Mr. Justice Hdwards will probably leave for Auckland to-morrow. Mr. J. B. Ilino, M.P., was taken ill when he returned homo on Saturday, anil has been compelled to cancel engagements for this week.
