Shooting in the opening match of the first seriss was commenced at Trentham on Saturday, for pri/KS donated by Messrs. W. Nidd, .Tudd, and Randall, W. E. Jackson, A. Collins, and J. J. Cassolls. The weather was not favourable for p:od .shooting, as one of Trontham's fishtails was very much in evidence. Tho highest score was made by Depnty-Prffident W. Moore, 38-38. 'Retired. SUBURBS RIFLE CLUB. TROPHT MATCH AT MIRAJtAR. The Suburbs Rifle Club continued its competition at Miramar on Saturday for trophies presented by Messrs. W. F. Hornig, G. Tullock, _T. Coltman, W. Gower, and J. G. Newton. The club championship and aggregates also commenced on Saturday. 31 members taking part in the shooting. A deadly northeast wind made the shooting very difficult and many shots fell very badly, the wind varying from 12 degrees to ' dead in with very little indication on the nags on the range. Rifleman J. Smart, of tho seniors, topped the list with a good score —45 at 600 and 45- at <00 yards. Rifleman Evans (juniors) topped tho range at 709 yards (scorc 4S, out of a possiblo 50).
