0 SOME OF THE LEAGUE'S AIMS. "I am strongly in favour of its platform," vomarkml Mr- J. H. Pollock at i'riday night's meeting of tho Wellington Amaetur Athletic Club, in referring to a circular which had been received from tho secretary of the Sports Protection Leajue intimating that a meeting would lie held on Wednesday next for the purpose of forming' a local branch of tho league. The speaker went on to state that, in the course of a conversation with Mr. H. D. Bell, to whom had been entrusted the task of formulating tho rules, he had been given to understand that the object of the league whs to prevent the curtailment of any of the liberties of sports and athletic todies. For instance, the league, would interest itself if the question of what kind of garments snould j be. worn by swimmers ever cropped up; tho pros, and c.ons. of holding a certain class of competitions in tho lowii llall, 1 and other similar matters. No funas wei'o asked for, members were admitted J free, and legal assistance also bo I given free to any sports body if required. lie was thoroughly in favour of the I formation of the league, anil con.-iilereil that nil sports bodies should belong to it. * It was ultimately decided by the meet--3 ing to appoint Mr. l'ollock as a delegate j to the meeting, which is to be held on Wednesday for the purpose ol lonmng a 0 local branch of tho Sports Protection ° League.
