INDIGNATION MEETING AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

There was an indignation meeting of between fifty or sixty railway employees at l'almorslon station at midday to-day, protesting against the Government increasing (heir wages to ,£l3O, instead of ,£133, as they claimed had been promised by the Prem'inr and Mr. Millar, who said ninrrivd men should receive not less than nine (hillings per ditta. Mr. jiobei-t M'Nab had boon n-slced during (lie morning (o obtain information from Wellington, and reported to the meeting that the Bill bad already passed its third reading, legislation was finished for (ho r-'.sion, and Ihe Railway Union Executivs had expressed itself pleased with the oonlents of the Bill. To-night a meeting of the Palmorston branch of tbo AiiKilga. mated Society passed n resolution of protest against the treatment of the, lowerpaid mon in the amended Schedule .1 of the Classification Act, which was opposed to the Budget statement that no ninn could receive loss than nino shillings por diom.
