MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
A meeting of tho Miramar Borough Council was hold last evening, the Mayor (Mr. J. Brodie) presiding. 'l'Jiero were also present Councillors Kiehards, Tellord, 8011, Stone, Bowie, and hanrensou. Councillor Bowie moved that Mr. Clark bo asked to complcto tho tramway audit by_ auditing capital expenditure.—After brief discussion tho motion was carried. Councillor Teli'ord moved that an engineer bo appointed lo tho borough nt a salary not exceeding .C3'iO per annum. Councillor Bell seconded this pro forma, but stated that, as ho had been taken completely by surprise, ho would like to see ill* matter deferred for consideration. Councillor Bowie suggested that tlio matter l>? referred to tho Water and Drainage Committee lo report as to the advisability of appointing such an official us was proposed. Kventually Councillor Telford agreed to niter his motion to (:ho form of a recommendation to (ho Water and Drainago Committee, and it was carried ia that form. Mr. It. 1. Jlcfitayer's report regarding the .Miramar water supply and sowerngo slated that the laving of tho water mains had now boon almost completed. Tlio water had been turned into the mains, and, so far, everything was progressing satisfactorily. Tho laying of (ho sewers ia also progressing well. A ttart had been made along the Marine Parade in Worser Hay with (ho laying of (he slonewnre sewfi's, but tho rplid naturo of tho ground wr.s ,n;;nins( rnjnd proßTCss. Tho borough engineer's report sUitetl that thn erection of a limber wall, IWift. in length, on Worser Bay l>ench, luul bo-Mi compkloil, and (lie bathing sholtew had been filled in. The wall was "down on to the rock" throughout, so thiit thero should bo no danger of a wash-out. Tho district fund account showed a debit balance of .CM Bs. lid., and (ho improvements loan account .i credit balance of JM7 K*. U.
