Mr. A. 11. Miles, resident partner of Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., intends la pay a visit to England early next year.
A garden party mas held at Dannovirke 911 Monday, when Mr. C. Hall, M.l\, who is retiring from the representation of Waipawu, was entertained. It was a successful and reprcfentative gathering. Our Palmerston correspondent states: A purse of .£7O has been forwarded (0 the Key. Father Qucaly, formerly of St. Patrick's, Palmerston, but who now presides over a parish 111 Queensland. Dr. E. B. MacDowcll, of Chicago, who lias come to New Zealand to collect intormation to aid him in 11 lecturing tour of the United States of Amcrica, is at present in Auckland. Dr. MacDowcll •will leave for lJotorua in a few days. -Mr. .1, fl. Goodman, vice-president of the Kcalty Corporation of South Africa, Ltd., whoso headquarters nro ut Johannesburg, arrived in Auckland by tlio -Malieno on Sunday. He is staying at tho Grand Hotel. Mr. Goodman, who is a native of Wellington, will tour the Dominion, returning via tho Bluff to Melbourne, whore he will catch a steamer lor South Africa next month.
