BOXING.
TOUIiNAMENT AT WESTPOET. (By TeloKraßh.-Prcsa Association.) Westport, October 22. The AVestporl Boxing Association's seventh tournament concluded on Saturday night before a large gathering of onlooUers. A special bout, J. Gcddes (Millerton) v. F. Harris (Nelson) was won by the latter, Ueddos giving in at tho end of the fourth round. A further special bout, W. Senior (Westport), 10st. Gib., v. J. Hunter (Nelson), lOst. 21b., was won on points by the lcrmcr, the bout going the full six rounds. A special six-round bout, arranged between J. O'Neill (Woslport), 7st. OIL., and J. Ferguson (Waipawa), Sst. 41b., resolved itself into -an exhibition bout, Ferguson being 101b. over the stipulated weight. Tho medal was awarded to O'Neill. OLD BOYS' CLUB. At the last meeting of tho Y.M.C.A. Old Bovs' Club tho members discussed at length how best they could retain the lads who came through the boys' department. It was decided to hold a meeting every Thursday evening, which would take the form as follows:—First half hour, of a religious nature, after which games and competitions should bo hold. It was suggested that a debating cveuing be given occasionally, and also such evenings as Skakespearean, musical and social. Mr. Atkinson was elected chairman. Mr. B. Mabin was elected honorary secretary. Tho boys' rooms have been secured for Ihcso weekly nieetiiigs, and it is hoped to make this club one of the keenest in tho association. Next Thursday tho early part of the meeting will be for the purpose of transacting business, after which the time will bo spent in social enjoyment.
