Although the club is not yet two year* old, the grci-n h,\i beoinc sulidly s;t, and, thanks to the careful attention it has received, played very well on Saturday. Xearly every club in .Wellington and suburbs was represented, tho various colours of blazers aud hat-bands lending a pleasant touch of colour to Hie ensemble. ' Xln said there i was ii membership of over SO, and 80 per cent, of that number had never handled a bowl before last season. An innovation would be made that afternoon by pitting visitors against visitors, instead of against 1 the club's own rinks. They had decided ' to do this because they had entered for the senior pennants tiiis year, and did not want to show their strength against the skilful players present, who might bo ' their opponents in that contest. In coni eluding his remarks, Mr. Laurenson took . occasion to mention the great work which 1 had been done for tho club by the first year's president (Mr. J. Eiimiburg), who was practically responsible for the fine show they were able to make so earlv in their career. Ho then called on Mrs. Laurenson to throw the jack, after which a number of friendly games were played. During tho afternoon, afternoon tea "was served in tlie pavilion, under the direction of Mesdaines Laurenson and Mitchell, who were assisted by a number of young ladies.
