The 1 Union Company then made arrangements : lor only urgent cargo to bo shipped by the -Malieno, which would bo in Auck- ' land on Labour Day, .uul all outward I cargo to go the next day ly tlie Van- 1 couvor boat, liven if only the imperativo I stuii' is included, the curgo will amount i to over COO tons, and, ;.s it v-euld bo 1 practically impossible to turn thi: out 1 between midnight on Sunday, when tho 1 Harbour Hoard opens its 'Jicd, ai.d seven o'clock on Monday, when 11.0 vatcrsido workers will stoj> work, Tho Cm trailer of Customs was approached to see whether 110 would have any objection to 1 work on the steamer beginning at nino p.m. on Sunday. Ho had 110 objections, and the matter then lay with llio llarbour Board. At tho last meeting of tho board it was recommended that tho application be refused. Tho waterside workers yesterday approached tho actingchairman, and it was later communicated e to the union that the board c<'uld not 7 alter its decision not to open the dcors c of its sheds on Sunday. This it'orning t, the union tailed a special ir coting of its 1 members, and 2GO attended, Tho matter 1 was put before them, and it w;is unani- e mously resolved (hat work cll the wcter- d front should cease at seven a.m. or La- g bour Day, and not be resumed till 8' 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Tim Union Cwupany e has decided that, should tlio cargo not be discharged by 7 o'clock ell Jlutday, j, the departure of the ship will l;e put oil' till Tuesday forenoon, c ittl as GOO tons of cargo is a good deal io shift in si von a hours, there is every possibility of tho * boat being delayed. ii
