Canon William Hector I/yon, M.A., for forty years vicar of Sherl>arne Abbey, Dorset, died on .August 31, in a Sherborne nursing home, where he had resided siuco his retirement. Ho was eighty-four years of age. Born in the Lady Chapel of the Abbey, which wa3 used as a dwelling-housn in 1827, when his father -was headmaster of Shciboriio School, Canon Lyon enjoyed the singular distinction of being bom in his own church.
