MARSDEN CENTENARY.
PROPOSED CHUI'CII CONGRESS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Auckland, October 20. In his address to the Anglican Synod to-day, Bishop Crosslcy said:—"Tho introduction of Christianity into these islands was surely tho greatest nnd grandest thing which has ever happened in New Zealand. In 1911 wo shall haTs reached tho centenary of Marsden's arrival. As part of the commemoration of that notablo event, tho Bishops of New Zealand unanimously suggest that a Church Congress for all New Zealand should bo hold early in that year, and that it should bo held in Auckland. I should hope that tho Primate and the Bishops would endeavour to securo tho prcsenco of at least ono Bishop and one Priest to represent tho Churches of England, Scotland, and Ireland, of Africa, of tho United States, and of Canada, and of our great neighbouring continent of Australia, at that congress. A Church Congress, well prepared for, and in good time, brings invigoralion to the placo and inspiration to the workers. May the first New Zealand Congress at Auckland b» crowned with success, To this end I would ask tho Synod to appoint a small committee or commission to undertake preliminary action in connection with other committees in New Zealand."
