EX-CONSTABLE GLYNN.
SHOULD HE BE REINSTATED? A favourable report on tho petition of I ex-Constable Glynn was presented to tho House yesterday by the A to L Petitions Committee. The petitioner desired an inquiry into the cause of his retirement from the police force, and asked to be reinstated or otherwise provided with a suitable position in the service. Tho committee was ol opinion that the conviction by tho magistrate was not justified, that the application for a rehearing should have been granted, and that petitioner should bo reinstated in the police force. Messrs. Field and Fisher supported tho recommendation of the committee. The latter remarked that Glynn had been found guilty of an offence and dismissed tho force because he had pushed a man and told him to move on instead of arresting him. Somehow the crowd was always against tho policeman in the public streets, but in this case a number of witnesses had testified in favour of Glynn! Treatment such as had been meted out to this constable was calculated to bring law and order into cantempt. He hoped that the Minister concerned would give effect to tho recommendation of the committee.
