PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. London, September 7. Miss E. M. Baber, of Wellington, i 9 now on a rieit to England, having arrived ft couple of wt'-eka ago. ' Mr. W. WinWord, of Wellington, has just arrived iu England on a visit for two or three months. Mr. James Curie, of Duncdin, left England on Monday on his return to New Zealand. For the last three months Mr. Curie has been touring Scotland and Ireland. Miss Norah Shannaa, of Dunedin, and Miss Daisy Hook, of Hawera, ivho have been touring in the West Country, and have visited America, are now in London, and-intend later to tour Switzerland and France. Mt. J. W. E. Wallace, of Wellington, and Mra. Wallace, who have beon staying dnring the past conplo of months in this country, have arranged to leave London on their x-eturn early in November. Mr. and Mrs. James Porter, of Wanganui, and their daughter, who camo to Biglaud early in the year, left for New Zealand by the Athoiuc this week. During their stay they have travelled about England, mainly in the South, East, and West. Mr. A. G. Marshall M.A., of Auckland, this year's Rliodes scholar, intends, when at Oxford, to specialise in physics and mathematics, with the aim of getting into a laboratory and carrying out research ta practical problems in engineering. Mr. and Mrs. B. Khodcs, and Misa Rhodes, of Tiniaru, have, beon on a motor ; tour round England, and have gone on to Edinburgh this week. Their niece. Miss , Moana Rhodes, returned to Australia by th« Orsova last week. Mr. ond Mrs. 1. Rhodes ore remaining in England until the end of the year. The Hon. Victor Huia Onslow, younger e«a of the Earl and Countess of Onslow, arrived on September 1 from Innsbruck, having sufficiently recovered from his accident in. the T.vtol. Ho was moved in an ambulnnct to tho residence of Viscount Cranky, B«ohworth. Hampstcad.
Among those who left London for Now Zt>ale..nd last week were Sergeant Jas. M'Calloch, Constable Wm. Brown (of tho Kirkcaldy Police Force), and Mr. Robert Weir, who for many years past has been associated with thn Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
