(From Our Special Correspondents.! CARTERTON. Tho privileges for tho Wairarapa Show wero put up at auction on Saturday. The publican's booth privilege fell for £33 lCs. to Mr. G. White, of Greytown; the luncheon booth for £5 to Mrs. A. L. Whyto, of Carterten, and the .fancy stall for £1 to Mr. N. Bouzaid, of Carterton. A meeting of delegates representing tho Masterton and CarteTUm Friendly _ Societies' Council was held hero on Friday evening, Bro. 11. H. Armstrong presiding. As the Taratahi races aro to bo held on Boxing Day, it was considered inadvisable to clash with that event, and it was therefore suggested that the picnic be held on some Thursday during the month of January. Tho lodges aro to be communicated with and a further meeting will bo held in about three wceksP timo to deal with tho replies. It was thought advisable to hold the picnic closer to the district this year and Solwar was mentioned as a suitable spot. Four tenders were received for tho erection of a band rotunda on Carrington Park as a Coronation memento, that of Messrs. Eae and Moson, of Masterton, at , £198 10s. being accepted. Tho unsuccessful tenderers were:—Mcssts. T. S. Arcus find Sons, £310; D. T. King, £330; A. B Wallis, £333. Tho architect's estimate was £200.

Mr. Ralph R. Armstrong, of Carterton, has been appointed ' returning officer for tho electoral district of Wairarapa. Tho local brass band enlivened flio town on Saturday night with a programme- of mueic. Mr. and Mrs. B. Bailey, of Taratahi, who aro leaving tho district, were entertained by tho congregation of St. Andrew's Church on Friday evening and presented with a handsomely-bound Biblo and hymnal as tokens of esteem. Tho li-ev. L. Thompson made the presentation on behalf of the congregation.
