A CHARACTERISTIC SPEECH BY THE FK-lllE MINISTER, As Sir Joseph Ward wag making a heated speech on tho subject of sinking funds in Parliament yesterday, lie was annoyed at an interjection of ''Rubbish!" which floated across from tho Opposition side, and pulled up short lo ask (ho Speaker whether tho word was permissible. "Yes," replied tho Speaker, "that word has been allowed." "Wei!, sir, lam glad to hear it," declared tho irato Primo Minister, and procoeded to voice his disgust at the rubbish talked by the hon. member opposite (Mr. Allen), who had been insDircd by the laughter of tho rnbbish that sat bohind him. Tho rubbish aforesaid practised this laugh in their caucuses. There wore individuals outside with four less and two ears who did tho same thing. (Laughter.) Tho Primo Minister tapered off his tirade with an angry declaration that ho was not going to allow tho laugh of the rubbish that sat opposito to pass without an answer. (More laughter.)
