Mr. Arthur Alexander, a son of Mr. A. L. Isaacs, of Dunedin, and a former pupil of the Wellington Boys' College, figured prominently in the annual priwjgiving of the Hoyal Academy of Music, which took place, in London recently. Mr. Alexander—who took his present name for professional reasons in placo of his patronymic of Isaacs—was formerly a pupil of Mr. Maughan Barnett, and has been studying tho pianoforte in London for several years past. In Juno last, although only twenty years of age, ho was appointed a sub-professor at the ltoyal Academy, from which ho had gained tho following scholarships and prizes:—Stcrndalc Bennett scholarship, 1910; Walter MacFarrcu medal, 1911; Frederick West!ako prize, 1911; E.A.M. Club prize, 1009; bronze medal, 1908; silver medal, 1803; certificate of merit, 1910. Mr. Alexander is a nephew of Mr. P. Isaacs, of Wellington Terrace.
