The Homo Secretary (Mr. Winston Churchill), in reply to local petitioners, declined to interfere with the sentences passed on those found guilty of partici-' pating in tho striko riots at Tredegar, Wales. Fenwick, Liberal M.P. for Wansbock, Northumberland, in the course of a speech, said the trouble arising from ; tho Eight Hours Act in Northumberland had cost tho Minors' Association' over DISCONTENTED TELEGRAPHISTS. Tho enforcement of tho broken shift system, which led to threats of a strike by the telegraphists, has been postponed to allow tho new Postmaster-General, Mr. Eraser, to becoino seized of tho situation. Mr. Fraser has arranged for an interview with the officials of the Telegraphists Association. (Rec. October 17, 1.10 a.m.) Sydney, October IG. The Postmaster-General received a deputation from tho Telegraphists' Association and discussed tho troubles in tho Department. Ho promised tho operators a fair deal, but declared that ho would not be bluffed. He will givo an answor to the demands after fuller consideration.
