THE FARMERS' UNION.
PALAIERSTON BRANCH AFFAIRS. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston branch of tho Farmers' Union was held on Saturday, Mr. J. Balsillie presiding. The question of rates of commi-sion on dairy stock was discussed. Several replies from othor branches regarding this question were received, and it was resolved that the branches interested be nsked to send a delegate to a meeting to be held in Pahnerston during show week. Tiie matter will then be further considered. A letter was read from the director of the Technical School, applying to the union to provide one or more scholarships on tho same lin?s as those granted by the Working Men's Club. After discussion, in which appreciate referenco was mado to tho work of the school, it was resolved: "That this branch provide' an agricultural scholarship of the value of JJS for the Palmerston North Technical School, the scholarship to bo fox pupils attending schools outside tho borough. Messrs. BalsUlie and Bryant were empowered to confer with tho director, and to arrange further details. A circular was received from the "Wanganui Education Board regarding rural scholarships. The chairman reported that the provincial executive had voted ,£lO to the board to provide for a Farmers' Union scholarship, and this would meet the requirements.
