The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruapehu, which is en route 'to Loudon, left Monte Video on Friday last. S.S. TRIFELS FROM NEW YORK. The steamer Trifols, of the German ITansa. Steamship Company, is due to arrive to-dnv from New York, via Capo Town, Melbourne, Sydney., and Auckland. Tho vessel cleared New York on August 1, havmg 7(TO tons of cargo aboard for Australian and New Zealand ports. The Trifels arrived at Melbourne on September 24, from whence after discharging cargo she proceeded to Sydney. Arriving at the latter port on October 1. further cargo was discharged. Kaincna; fourth, I!. Winter. HIMITANOI FROM THE CHATnAMS. Yesterday _ afternoon the Chatham Island Fisheries Company's steamer Himitangi arrived from the Chatham Islands via Lyttelton. The vessel left Lvttelton on Friday, September 29, with a. full c-irgo for the Inlands. and reached Waitangi oil the following Monday morning. Fine weather was experienced while tho vessel wan at the Island*, and after landing her eartro and loadirjir 850 cafes of fish and some live stock, tile Himitangi left Waitangi at noon on Tuesday last. A heavy northerly gale with a n.isty confused sea was experienced on Wednesday and Thursday, and the vessel had a, bad tossing. In addition to the fish, which is consigned to Wellington, the vessel brourrht. 4CO sheep and 30 bales of. wool for Lyttelton. Six hundred of the ca,ses of fish are from Mr. M'T,can's station at Kaiuraron. and the balance from the Chatham Islands Fisheries Company's station at Owenga. An expccted arrival to-day is tile New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rotorua, from Auckland. The vessel is to berth at the Glasgow Wharf. Wairm, steam coaster, left port at 6 o'clock on Saturday evening for Puponga, but put back an hour aftor through stress of weather.Mr. Patrick is relieving Mr. Dawo as purser of the Ulimaroa. Te Anau, Union steamer, arrived here from Timaru direct yesterday. Tho vessel is to sail to-day for New Plymouth, Westport, and Grcymouth. Ou Wednesday next tho Union collier Karori is cxpeotcd to arrive hero from Newcastle, via, Lyttelton. The Union colliers Kittawa, and Flora are still bar-bound at Greymoutli. Owing to the heavy sea, on tho coast, the Hinemoa was unable to land building material at Castlcpoint on Friday. Tho weather, however, had moderated sufUcicntly to enaiblo her to send cargo ashore on Saturday, Jlr. J. Carrick, second oDiecr of tho Araliura, signed off tho vessel a.t Wellington on Saturday. Mr. J. Eajiliin has filled tie vacancy. On account of Monday, October £3 being Labour Day, the departure of the Rarawa from New Plymouth for Oncliunga has been postponed luntil Tuesday evening, Octobcr 24. The steamer will await tho arrival of the express train. She will leave Oncliunga again on Wednesday, Octobcr 25, according to timetable. Oil Thursday next tho Kini is to load part cargo of coal at Wostport for the Westport Coal Co., and will sail for Wellington on Friday. Mr. H. Kilcliing, of Messrs. Bannalyno and Co.'s shipping office, left for Wangaaiui (on holiday) on Saturday. Whilst oil the run from Wellington to Waitara. last week tho coaster Taiuui lost her propeller. As soon as the loss had been discovered, Captain Jensen set sails, but. the wind dropped, and he then signalled for assistance. Tho steamer Manakau stood in in response to the call, and towed the disabled vessel to her destinar tion. After completing, tho discharge of about 2000 tons of London cargo at tho Bluff, the Kaikoura will probably be laid tip at Port Chalmers to await the wool season.
