LONDON WOOL SALES.

At the wool sales the following clip prices were realised:—"Parcora," top pjieo lUd., average 10& d.; "Santoft," top "id., average B}d. Later. The wool sales closed firm. Prices were unchanged. THE CLOSING PRICKS. {Hoc. October 11, 10.35 p.m.) London, October 11. Tho following U the result of the wool sales:—Sold, for Home consumption, 58.C00 bale 3; for the Continent, <b,voo bales; for the United States, 2CCO bales. .Held over, 27X00 bales. The Continental demand lias been for flue merino?. Yorkshire buyerj operated alrgely in slipes and greasy cro^breds. As compared with tho July closing rates, fine merinos are uncha7jged, but average sorts generally- declined 5 peir cent. New Zealand seourcds were in strong demand, ard are unchanged; medium sooureds declined 5 por cent-., and inferior 10 per cent. Greasy cropsbrede arc slightly firmer; fine aud medium closed at a decline of from 5 to 7i per cent., and coarse at par to 5 per cent, decline.

Tha Commerce and Tourists Division of the Department of Agriculture, Oounnerce. and Touri-sts has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London October 10, regarding the closing of the fifth serias of tho colonial wool sales:—"The wool sales have dosed with a fair demand for all qualities at present market values. Amencans arc not buviug. Trade is good, and manufacturers are busy. Prospects are favourable at a reasonable, jirice, provided no further political complications arise on the Continent; 19,000 ba!o? of New Zealand wool are heM over. Estimated values are as follow:—Superior merino, lljd. to Is. Id.; medium merino, 9id. to lid.; interior merino, 7*d. to 9d.; fine crosebrods (all grades), lid. to Ib. Id.; medium crossbrcds (all grades), ed. to IOJd.; coarse crossbreds (all grades), 7d. to lOd."

The Bank of New Zealand has recoxred tlie following cable advice from its London office, dated October 10:-"The sale? have closed firm for all kinds of wool. There is a good demand for coarse crossbrcds. Total ouantitv hold over is 26.CC0 bales, of which 18.CC0 arc New Zealand.

Dalgety find Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received cabled advice from thoir London oflfcc, under >dato October 10, as follows-.-The wool sales have closed, .prices being fairly maintained ce compared with the opesing rates of lac scrjcs. For merino wools (as compared with the closing rates of last series), super, scoured, 5 to 7£ per cent, lower; medium sorts, scoured" 7£ per cent, to 10 per cent. lower; inferior scoured, 10 to 15 per c-ent. lower; pood Quality and condition creasies. par to 5 per "ccnt-.* lower; medium jrreai'ies, 5 to 7* per ccnt. Jowcr; inferior greasy, 7* per cent, to 10 pov cent, lower. For crossbred wools, greasie®, lino Quality , 7£ to 10 pel' ocnt. lower; medium Quality, 5 to 7J per cen.t lower; coarse dualities, par to 5 per cent., lower, and, for scoured crossbrcds, 5 per cent, lower. Pliped wools arc 5 per cent, lower, and lambs' wool is unchanged. The net ouantitv available for sale amounted to 158,CC0 bales, the disposal*, being as follow:—Sold to America, 2TCO bales; Home consumption., 70,CC0 bales; Continent, 40.CC0 bales; carried forward to November series, 26,f00 bales.

The New Zealand Loaa and Mercantile Acencv Company, Ltd., has received tlio following cablegram from its London house, under date October 10, regarding the cloeing of the fifth series- of London wool sales: —"During the series, 1C2.0C0 bales of wool were cold, of which 40,0C<) were taken for the Continent a.nd 2000 for America; 26.CC0 bales wore held over. The sales cloEed fairly good. As compared with last sale's closing rates, prices arc lower by about 5 per cent, tot greary merino medium, and lower by about 10 per cent, for scoured merino inferior."

Messrs. Murray. Roberts and Co., Ltd., received the following cable message from their London friends, Messrs. Sanderson, Murray ar.d Co., with reference to the close of the wool sales:—"Sales have clor-cd with competition good. Compared with the closing rates, of last series, coarse greasy crowbrod shows no material change. Compared with the opening rate of the present scries, tile market is weaker for all other descriptions of wool. 26,CC0 bales &ro held over."
