Four beys were charged with destroying a number of muscovy and mallard duck eggs at tho N^wto'.vn'"Zoo." lu' outlining Hio c.ipc for tlio prosecution, Mr. J. O'Slieii, the city solicitor, stated that these lads were members of a team of about a dozen juveniles who had caused trouble at the "Zoo" for two year.-;. It had been found that tho nests of wild fowl had been raided and the eggs destroyed. In (his instance the nests of the ducks happened to contain eggs which were about to be hatched. His Worship cautioned the lads, and, upon tl\eir p.irents promising to mote out punishment at home, discharged them. FATHER AND TWO DAUGHTERS. John William Noman applied to the Court to have a maintenance order, in respect to his two daughters, Ada and Annie Noman, varied. Ou February 5. 1906, the Court made an order against the applicant, ordering him to pay 10s. per week in respect to each of his two daughters. Yesterday applicant gave evidence to the effect that, sinco that time he had found it impossible to meet the amount, and he also contended that the girls were quite able to earn their own livelihood. They had not been living at home for some time, having, ill fact, resided with a married sister. He was quite willing to allow them to reside at Lome again, if they so desired. Complainants (tho daughters) stated in evidence that they were in indifferent health, .and were both subject to epileptic tits, and that (hey were at times unable to do anything. After hearing further evidence, liis Worship varied .the order, reducing tlio amount in respect to Annie Noman to 6s. per week. In regard to Ada Noman, however, the original order would stand. UNSOI1E1? CONTINGENT. One first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged. Two other first offenders for a similar offence were fined ss. and 10s. respectively, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Henry Evans, for drunkenness, was fined 10s., in default forty-eight hours' detention. James Wallace appeared to answer a charge of drunkenness and also ono of a breach of a prohibition order. Pleading guilty to both oll'ences, lie was convicted and discharged on the first charge, lmt was filial 205., in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment, on the second.
