BRITAIN'S LATEST DREADNOUGHT. Gj relefrapte—Press As3ociatl«n--CoD7Tlch» London, October 9. The battleship King George V was launched at the Portsmouth Dockyards by Prinocss Christian. Australian wino was used in the christening ceremony. Official particulars with reference to the King George V and the Centurion, the two sister battleships of which the keels were laid on January 16 last, have not been made known. Details of the Audacious and tho Ajax, two other ships of tho class, are also being kept secret by the Admiralty. "Tho Times," however, stated that tho two ships would be about 56-1 feet between perpendiculars, or GOO foet over all, with a beam of 89 feet, aud a displacement of between 23,000 and Hi,ooo tons. The armament is to consist of ten 13.5-inch guns, arranged along the centro line, giving a bow and stern firo of four guns and a broadside firo of all ten. In association with these thoro will be a powerful secondary armament of the latest type of 4-inch guns far repelling torpedo attack, and three 21inch torpedo tubes. Increased armour protection will be ono of tho characteristics of tho ships.
