H, Morrnh; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. LoekhartFitiherberl, P. A. M'Hardy, J. GoringJohnston, If. N. Watson, and 11. It. Cooper; secretary, Air. Collins; treasurer, Mr. Spencer; committee, Mesdames Warburton and I'itzlierbert, Messrs. Meodie, Clcrc, and KHiolt; delegate to association, Mr. G. A. Hurley; auditor, Mr. H. F. GibSeveral new members were elected, and it was decided to open tho season ou October :!S. At a mooting of tho Palmersvon Motorcycle Club it was decided to hold a petrol competition on Labour Day (October 13), in which each contestant will bo given a pint of petrol, and the prize will go to the rider who gets furthest ou this amount. A demonstration on tho practical working of a motor is to be held. A number of trophies were donated for hill-climbing and other competitions, and it was decided to take into consideration (at a subsequent date) tho question of holding a sports gathering. The dog, nuisance was discussed and it was decided to toko steps to prosecute owners in cases where it could bo shown that dogs had proved a danger to riders. Mr. T. F. Conway, conductor of t'he Palmcrston Hrass Hand, has resigned that position, and Mr. C. Piko has been elected to fill tho vacancy pro (em. Mr. Bowator was appointed assistant-secretary to carry on Mr. Pike's former duties. The Manawalu Egg Circle met last night. Tho secretary reported Ibnfc 2700 dozen eggs had been marketed during the month, the avorngo price being WJtl,, after paying alt expenses. Palmcrston, October S. Tho anniversary of the Anglican Childroji's Home was' celebrated vo-tcrday afternoon, when thoro was a large aftendaiwo of people interested in tho institution. The homo has now some fonr-and-twenty little occupants, all of whom look healthy aud contented. Thoro have l>eeu quite a largo number of further applications for mimission, but the home is already taxed to its utmost accommodation, and tho finances will not at present allow of further extension. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the matrou and a number of ladies, and among the visitors was tiro Bishop of Wellington, who also held a confirmation service hero this afternoon.
The local museum has been clasod in order to permit of tho specimens being packed for removal from tho library building to new quarters in the old Fir'o Brigndo Station, in Cuba Street. The building has been altered and renovated inside and out, and will now prove excellently adapted for tho museum.
