A conference of tho Miners' Federation, held at vSonthport, resolved to support tho Northumberland miners' demand for an increased minimum wago r.Tid the abolition of tho three shifts. Mr. Albort Stanley (Labour M.P. ' for North-West Staffordshire) said ho was unable to say whether this decision meant a national stoppage of work. Further action depended on the negotiations between, tho masters and the men. MOUNT LTELL DEADLOCK. Melbourne, October 6. At the Mount Lyell Conference tho only question discussed was tho reinstatement of the dismissed unionist, White. Tho directors intimated that they would not concede anything in regard to White, contending that ho committed a serious broach of discipline. Tho men decline to recede from the position taken up, and the conference has boon disbanded. WAGES BOARD TOR CLERKS. Melbourne, October G. The State Government has appointed'a Clerical Wages Board, tho first in Australia. SAUSAGE STRIKE ENDS. Melbourne, OctobeT G. Tho Sausage Skin Workers, who struck for an increase in pay of two shillings weekly, have returned to work, tho matter having been settled.
