« ■ The monthly meeting of tho council of tho Surveyors Institute was held at tho secretary's office, Feathwston Street, yesterday afternoon. Mr. T. Humphries proMessrs. T. C. Slndden and S. Oibell were elected president and secretary respectively of tlio Taraaaki local committee. A letter was received from Mr. Mno> kay, of tho Tnraunki local committee, in regard to certain railway regulations as being somewhat unreasonable, us they prohibit surveyors from going on railway land unless under certain conditions. It was decided to ask Mr. Mncliny which woro tho regulations that ho referred to.
