The president took tbo opportunity to present tho trophies won during tho lnafc bowling season as follow:—Rinks, W. Crump, C. Vraser, D. D. Harris, and F. J. Taskor (skip); club pairs, W. Crump (lead), and N. 11. Nasi (skip); junior pairs, L. It. Bryant and W. J. B. Jolley; subscription pairs, A. Harris and J, Young; champion single, A. Pickering) handicap singles, A. Harris j. colts, 11. Tremewan. The donors of the trophies were: Messrs. J. -A. Nash (president), T. Griggs (vice-president), A. E. Clausen, 11. Wollerman, and 11. B. Tucker. An ordinary meeting of Hie Borough Council was Held last evening, tbe Mayor (11 r. J. A. Nash) presiding. A considerable amount, of discussion took place on a report by the engineer as to exits at Hie Ojsera House, which he considers require improvement. It was eventually decided to carry out the recommendations of the engineer. A. request froih 11 r. A. Jack in coiuic'ctinn with ventilator tests wos referred to the Public Works Committee. It was decided to open tbo Coronation Hal! tit Terrace End with an .entertainment in aid of [ho High School anrt Technical School furnishing fund. A veto of thnnka was accorded Mr. 1!. if'Xab for a donation of a largo number of tntara and kowhai frees. A remit is to bs forwarded to the llunjcipal Association in the direction of nil amendment to the Municipal C-.'rporatious Act to allow grants from the general fund to lilio amount of XIOO to bo mado to brass band*. A deputation from the local branch of tho Wellington Acclimatisation Society waited on the council to ask for a site for holding ponds and connection with tho water supply, Tho matter was referred to tho Workii Committee. It was decided to notify tho Vanawntu Auctioneers' Association and the Maiur.vatu Drainage Board that a drain having been cut in Bomdary lioad without tile council's sanction those bodies would 1)0 held responsible for any damage don.?. The local Hibernian Lodge celebrated its victory in the Friendly Societies' card! tournament by holding a "social" last evening, lire. 11.
