: » : The half-yearly meeting of the Wellington Grocers' I'uion was held at the Trades and Labour Council Hall last evening. The report stated that- AS new members have been admitted during the term, and that there is a sum of .£7O banked-to the credit of the organisation. „\o written reply to the union's request' for an appeal against the decision- of tho Stipendiary Magistrate has as yet been received from tho Labour Department, but (he secretary states that it is understood an appeal will l;e lodged. The decision, in etiect, says that .the hours' provisions of the Act must hold against the stipulation as regards working hours obtaining in the union's award. ■If the magistrate's decision is upheld the position will be that grocers' cart drivers and other drivers Who are shop assistants within tho nuvmingof the Act caii be worked 52 hours per week, exclusive of stable lime, as against the ■171 hours' working, week. of Hie award, which also excludes the time spent' in stable work.
