TWENTY-TWO KNOWN TO BE DEAD. By Telesrraph—Press Association—OoDjriclit (Rec. October 4, 1 a.m.) New York, October 3. Twenty-two persons are known to be dea<l and eighty-six arc missing as. the rosnlt of the floods following tho bursting of a clam at Austin, Pennsylvania. The total number of tho dead will probably reach 150. . As usual in the case of disasters! in America, the death-roll given originally has proved to be ridiculously exaggerated. 11l th-o Press Association message published on Mondav morning it was stated that at Austin GOO were dead. _ Tho town of Costello, with a population of 500, wns al-o stated to have been annihilated, and tho survivors to be of opinion that twotiiirds of the population there were dead.
