The town of Austin, in Pennsylvania, a placo with a population of 3200 inhabitants, has been utmost obliterated by tho bursting of a dam belonging to the Bayliss I'ulk Paper Company. Six hundred, persons aro dead. < After the disaster tho debris caught fire. The town of Costello, below Austin, •with a population of 500, was annihilated. * Tho survivors are of opinion that twothirds of tho population are dead. A 20ft. dam gave way, letting free 500 million gallons of water. The roar was heard miles'away. The town of Wharton also suffered. Practically every building in Costello was levelled by the torrent. Every member of Senator Baldwin's family, excepting himself, perished. The property loss amounts to millions of dollars.
