-4 AT AUCiaAND WHARF. • (By TelccrraDli.—Press Association.) Auckland, October L A firo broke out on tho steamer Kent now discharging lier cargo from Liverpool at the Queen Street wliarf, early this morning. Sho was working cargo up till 10 o'clock last night, and everything was then apparently safe. The outbreak, to which no causo is assigned, was discovered about 1.30 a.m. The city firo brigado got tho flames under control after an hour's strenuous work. Tho firo is believed _to havo started in a crato of straw packing. Tho vessol has apparently sustained no damage. Tho damage to 'the cargo will not bo known until a sun. vey is made to-morrow.
