MARRIAGE RESTRICTIONS.

Sir,—One of your correspondents writes tliat ho is surprised that anyonp rauld Ik found to bring before Parliament a Bill to legalise marriage 0 f uncle and niece. j\o one has yet been found to do this, fho proposed amendment was to legalise marriage between a mqn and his deceased wifes niece—a ray different proposition and to which thero can, be nothing obicchonable. There -s no blood relationship between these two, and vet in every British country we have always allowed the marriage of cousins. The Common Prayer Book of the Church of England states certain prohibited degrees of marriage (a sample of them is "a man mav not marry 1m grandmother''), and on 'this ground .certain people may object to theso marriages with dooeaswl -wife's sister uid wifes niece. Ono of the bishops in lingland said the other day that tlio Church was too much built up on "anachronistic stereotyped theology." Surely tills s an instajico of it.-I am, etc., SYMPATHISED.
