IRISH STRIKERS DEPRESSED,

Many aro resuming work, and others aro applying for reinstatement. HARVESTER WORKERS DISCHARGED. (Rec. September 26, 8.50 p.m.) Melbourne, September 26. Tho Sunshine Han-ester Company has put off 180 workmen owing to tho lack of material caused by the moulders' strike in tho State. Failing a settlement of tho strike to-day a further 500 will be discharged. STRIKE COLLAPSES. (Rec. September 27, 0.25 a a.m.) Melbourne, September 26. The Sunshine Harvester Works' strike has collapsed, the company having agreed to remove the non-unionist complained of to a different department.
MOUNT LYELL STRIKE. Hobart, September 26. The 3lounfc Lyell strike has paralysed trade in tho district. The company claims that tho question at issue is one of discipline; tho eighthour principle is not involved. It also states that tho men's demands mean an increase of from to .£150,000 per anuum, which is considerably in excess of tho profits earned by tho mines. Both sides aro determined The company has declined the Premier's offer to arbitrate, considering it would bo futile, and declaring that it cannot accept • arbitration on a. question regarding a discharged employee. LITHGOW CONFERENCE. Sydney, September 2G. Mr. Carmichael, Minister for Education and Labour, is calling a conferenco of both parties to tho Lithgow strike, with a view to a settlement. Many of the strikers havo left tho district.
