PROHIBITION LECTURE.
Mrs. Barton, the Scottish temperance lecturer, who is conducting a series of lectures in Wellington in connection with the No-License movement, delivered an interesting address at the Sydney Street Schoolroom last evening. There was a gooil attendance, and the speaker rrc?ive<l an attentive hearing. At Hie conclusion a resolution was moved thanking Mrs Barton for her address. An amendment was then moved, also thanking the lecturer for her address, but inkling'that, in the opinion of the meeting, Prohibition is not a suitable way of dealing with the liquor queston. The umpmlment was put, but declared lost, n.ud the original inotiou was carried amidst cries of dissent.
