O'Neill has ridden in three, hurdle, races this season, two of which he has won, while, in tho third, his mount fell. ■\Vaiouru, on whom O'Neill won at Otaki on Saturday, has frequently run off his schooling essays at Foxton, ami it is considered quite a feat for his jockey to have safely got him round tho course on Saturday. Tho Australian Jockey Club's meeting opens at Randwick on Saturday, when the, A..T.C. Derby n,ud the Epsom Handicap will bo decided. Otahu was the only double winner at the Otaki meeting. F. D. Jones's first eighteen mounts this season yielded six wins for the Karamu horseman. An Auckland writer states that, prior to ■ tho Avondale meeting, trainer F. Loomb disposed of Monorail to Sir. do Latour, of Gisbornc, for 450 guineas, delivery to be taken after the racing at Avcadale. It is said also that Mr. de Latour improved his bargai.'.i by supporting Monorail heavily in tho Avondalo Stakes. Tho Auckland owner. Mr. W. Montgom- • cry, was to have left for Sydney last night and it is understood that Hoanga will' bo shipped across next week. At'Sandown Park on September 16, H. Cairns who rode Ilukn ta victory in the Steeplechase, also got Black Twist homo in the Sundown Purse. This is rather an uncommon double for a jockey fo bring off (fays an Australian writer). 110 rode Black Twi.'t (who is by Coil) very nicely, timing his run well to beat the. hcavily-biii'ked Sir Froudo, who led until a few strides of the poet.
