CANADIAN ELECTIONS.
SIR JOHN FINDLAY'S VIEWS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! Auckland. September 25. "In my opinion," said Sir- John Findlay to a reporter to-day, "the defeat of the Laurior Government was mainly due to the dwindling and weakening Imperialism of the party in power. I believe that Canada, like New Zealand, is anxious to maintain a union of Empire, and if one thin? distinguished the Prime Minister of New Zealand from the Prime Minister of Canada at the recent Conference it was tho contrast on the question of unity displayed by those two leader?. If, then, the Canadian elections have any lesson for this country it is this: That the. public men and the party which stands ftaunchest for Imperial unity will receivo tho most widespread support of the people. If this test is applied to New Zealand we need liavo no doubt as to where Sir Joseph Ward-and his party will bs after tho next election. This matter has bc«n engaging my very closest attention, and I am° publishing a bcok in London during the next few weeks upon the. history and probable Outcome of recent Imperialism."
