AVIATION.
Aviation sickness is, according to a communication recently mndo to tho Paris Academy of Sciences by M. Dastrc, very similar to mountain sickness, from which it differs solely by tho greator rapidity with which it makes its appearance, whilo this rapidity is naturally duo to the sudden change to a high altitude. All aviators, like all _ mountaineers, do not suffer from the' sickness, and of course it has different effects on different ■•constitutions, the young and robust being less liable than others. As is mountain sickness, the principal factors are- fatigue and muscular effort, , to which in the caso of the inexperienced aviator are added the, mental strain and the moral emotions. By a systematic training and consequently gradual attempts at high ascents, the chances of sickness are greatly lessened, but in all cases Ihe general conditions of health must be tho first consideration, so that the aviator may be enabled to re'sist tho weakness duo to fatigue and muscular effort, and so diminish the possibility of moral tension.
