' To-night's tournament at 'ho Town Hall . will no doubt provide n rather find evening, yet the association has departed from its usual course of puttingon three or four amateur bouts as preliminaries, and, instead, a professional bout of oight rounds between Rogers and Hardy, both well-known local exponents, and ono amatenr bout of three rounds between Ellis, of Wellington, and Ireland, of Waipawa. (two champions in the featherweight olass in their respective districts) has been substituted. Both these encounters are likely to prove fast and willing. Immediately after the interval, the contest between Tracy and Haunan comes on. This will bo the first timo that Trncv has appeared in Wellington 6inco his defeat by Unkolz; In other parts of tho Dominion ho has been in demand, and only on ono occasion since that time has he suffered defeat, by Murphy, when the champion's arm was. injured. He has now recovered, -and reports himself as fit and well as at any period of his career.
