It is believed that M. Stolypin was aware of tho existence, of a plot at Kieff against him. . , When Bogroffi' the attempted murderer, approached, M.' Stolypin turned as if to greet him. Bogroff then fired. later. M. Stolypin is showing symptoms of peritonitis. An operation has been performed, and the bullet removed. A DOUBLE-DEALING TRAITOR, (Rec. September 18, 9.20 p.m.) St. Petersburg, September 18.. M. Stolypin bore his' operation well. A midnight bulletin stated, however, that tho peritoneal symptoms continue, and that his condition is serious. Tho assassin Bqgroff, while a student at Kieff University, did traitor's work, and caused tho arrest of many students. Tho Anarchists, discovering his treachery, gave him tho choice of, assassinating M. Stolypin or himself being murdered. Tho authorities regarded him as a valuable secret agent. Bogroff's relatives and immediate frionds have been arrested. Tho prisoner will be court-martialled on Wednesday. At a preliminary inquiry ho stated that ho had long waited a favourable opportunity to kill SI. Stolypin. His courage failed him the first time he saw a chance, but a second opportunity occurred and ho drew his revolver from his pocket under cover of a programme and fired, hoping to escapo during the excitement. In the scuffle following tho shooting some of Bogroff's teeth were knocked out, and ho also received a sabro cut on tho head. lie expressed his regret at wounding a musician with his second shot.
