MR. EDWARD WHYMPER.

London, September 17. Mr. Edward Whymper, F.R.S.E., the well-known artist, author, and explorer, is dead.

The lato Mr. Whymper was best known by reason of his mountaineering exploits in the Alps and in North aim South America. He also did some exploring woric in Greenland. He was bom (1 years ago, and was married in IDOG. Mr. Whymper wrote a number of books describing his mountaineering experiences.
