HAWKE'S BAY SHOW.
With the spring como the .big agricutural aiid pastoral shows,; and the first to occupy attention is that of the Hawke's Bay Society, which annual event is scheduled for. October 18 and 19 next, the closing date of entries being October 4. The society is nothing if not progressive, and no stono is being left unturned to keep r the fixture in tho very front rank. The prize money has been considerably increased, and though (lie increase has been spread over all 'sections, that, devoted to horses has benefited most. In every class, thoroughbred, draughts, ■ hacks, and harness sorts, tlie-'socicty have added .£1 to the first money, and in the classes for tho two last mentioned, specials, in the Bhapo of cash and trophies, have been provided by residents in the province. Tho two big leaping, events are endowed with ■ .£'lo each, and with such a draw a goodly number of entries should be forthcoming. The classos for cattle and sheep havo been liberaJly catered for, and strong competition is, anticipated. All tho other sections havo been generously provided for, and no doubt will receive the patronngo they merit. Programmes, and all information desired, will be forwarded on application to tho secretary, Mr. C. Douglas, Napier.
