Lord Rosebcry was yesterday installed as Rector of St. Andrew's University.
In his address he reviewed tho history of tho university from the days of barbarism prevailing in Scotland 500 years ago till to-day, when there was some danger of Scotland becoming a spoon-fed nation. He emphasised .thy. growth of toleration and tho gradual supersession' of violence by tho law. When he averaged tho centuries he was inclined to tako a hopeful view of tho future; he was persuaded there was a constant movement for the better in tho world.

Otago University Collcgo was represented by Professor. Sale, and tlio University of New Zealand by Mr. .Tamos Hay.
