Mr. Ben Tillett, secretary of the Dockers' Union, in speaking at Southampton, referred to tho Osborne judgment prohibiting the use of trade union funds for political pmposes, and declared that he was prepared to recommend a complete national stoppage of work unless freedom of combination and tho management of its own funds wore granted to the trades unions. SYDNEY STRIKE ENDS. (Rec. Sept. 18, 0.50 a.m.) Sydney, September 17. The wheat handlers' striko has been settled, and tho threatened strike of the coal lumpers has been averted. The men demanded an increase in the payment for night work, and, as a result of lengthy negotiations, the shipping companies yesterday conceded an -increase from Is. 9d. to 2s. 3d. an hour. ENGINE DERAILED AT LITHGOW. Sydney, September 16. An engine and a truck 1 were derailed at the Lithgow ironworks siding. It is stated tlmt the fishplates had been removed and a bolt placed between tho points. Thirty cadets at Lithgow have refused to attend drill, on tho ground that some other cadets aro working with non-union-ists at the ironworks. NEWCASTLE DISPUTE. - Sydney, September 16. The position at Newcastle is unchanged. T,he wheelers show,, no inclination to resume work. The new Lambton and Seapit mines have been idle since Monday. . .. The wheelers' notices expire to-day. VIOLENCE IN SPAIN. Madrid, September 15, It is reported that there has been severo street fighting ia connection with tho strike at Bilbao. No detail are available. The trouble is spreading to Malaga. Miners at Oviedo dynamited a Tailway bridge. ■
