Two boys, neither of them five, years of age wore playing with matches in the yard of King'sl'arm, Harwell, about threo miles from Didcot Junction, Berkshire, when a straw stack was suddenly seen to bo in flames. The embers iloated about in tho u-inl and set firo to a number of outbuildings and barns, all of which, with then' thatched roofs, were reduced to ashes. An adjoining farmhouse, in which lived an aged couple named Thomas, was destroyed, and Hi-sat difficulty was experienced in getting Sir. Tkrmas to a place of safety.
John Sier, aged Gf>. of Bury St. Edmunds, who prides himself on his pedestrian powers, recently walked twenty miles in five hours, less ten minutes, nn averago speed of over four miles an hour.
