LAUNCH ADEIFT AT SEA. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, September 12. A. fishing party which went "outside" in an oil-launch on Sunday had rather a trying experience. When the launch was some distance at sea the engines failed, and the crew attempted to make- hack to CastlcclifE under sail. Fortunately tho sea was calm and by yesterday they had made enough progress to bo in view from the pilot station.' Seeing that something was wrong the pilot sent out tho tug which towed the launch and crew back to port. At tho annual meeting' of St. Paul's Cricket Club satisfactory progress during tho past season was reported. The Rev. .T. D. Ji'Kenzio was elected president, Sir. J. Henderson captain and Mr. E. Eabone secretary. The Beautifying Society, which continues to do splendid work, has just received a largo consignment of seeds from Australia, these including thirteen varieties of eucalypti, and 2-t of wattle, besides other kinds. All are flowering varieties. The society has just forwarded to Australia another order for trees and shrubs. '. The Wanganui District Nurses' Leaguo has lately been having trouble. A few days ago eur; of its two nurses sent in her resignation, which was promptly accepted, and the other has now been informed Hint she can send in her resignation by Thursday next. If she desires otherwise the lcague'insisls on its instructions being given effect to. Nurse Grace Nobhs, of Wanganui, has been appointed to fill tho existing vacancy.
