LABOUR DISPUTES.

The Newcastle Miners' Federation has rejected tho proposal of tho miners to do the wheeling at tho "Wallscnd Colliery, where the wheelers are on strike. Several wheelers who aro members of the Federation attended and voted in the negative. The wheelers have never bofore exercised their right of voting in a Federation matter. It is now probable that the wheelers at other mines will give notice of their in-, tention to ceaso work, and unless tho unforeseen happens thero will soon be few pits working. A FATALITY AT LITHGOW. (Eec. September 12, 9.35 p.m.) Sydney, September 12. An apprentice named Lloyd was crossing a section of tho blast furnace area at the Lithgow ironworks when the police chased him. He became excited and ran into a moving train and was killed. Strike matters are quiet at Lithgow. Both sides are as determined as even. CONTRACT SHEARING. Sydney, September 12. The Workers' Union is taking a plebiscite on the question whether the contract system of shearing shall ceaso. There is reason to believe that tho vote will be against the contract system. COLLIE MINERS' DISPUTE. Perth, September 12. The strike of the Collie miners delayed the departure of the steamer Walkure, which arrived here from New York en route for New Zealand. Failing to obtain coal for her bunkers at Bunbury, the steamer proceeded to Albany.
