NAVY LEAGUE.

Mr. W. J. Napipr, barrister, of Auckland, arrived in Wellington by tho Main Trunk last evening to attend the conference of Navy League bronchos, which opens in the Town Hall to-day. ITe will submit to the conference the following remits from Auckland-.— 1. That, in the opinion of this conference. the maintenance of the integrity of the Empire and tho adequate protcction of its commerce require the immediate recognition by the Imperial Government of the principle of laying down two keels for on? in relation to tho German Navy. 2. That the contribution of New Zealand to the cost of the maintenance of the Imperial Navy should bo based upon the relation which the population and trade ol'Niw Zealand bear to the population and trade of the United Kingdom. 3. That inasmuch as Ihe great need of the Imperial Navy in time of war will bo the providing of reinforcements of men to ivpai f tho wastage in personnel which hostilities involve, this, conference is of opinion that, at least 111 per cent, of the Territorial forces of New" Zealand .should be trained as Naval Reservists, and receive six weeks' I raining per annum on the warships on this station.
