NEWCASTLE FRICTION. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Sydney, September 11. The wheelers at the Wnllsend mine havo declined to accept the miners' advice to return to work and submit their auces to arbitration. The Employees' Federations called a, meeting of the Wallseml Lodge, at which a ballot was taken on tho question of the miners doing the wheeling themselves. This they refused. A ballot of tho wholo of the members of the federation on the subject is now being taken. Should tho result bo against miners doing tho wheeling, the position will become extremely grave. WEST AUSTRALIAN TROUBLES. ■ Forth, September 11. Tho proprietors of tho Collio Burn Mine, declining to make any further concessions to the miners, have closed down tho mine. Owing to a strike of bricklayers in Perth, a complete stoppage of building 'operations is likely. SYDNEY DISPUTES. Sydnoy, September 11. The theatrical employees' dispute'has been settled. Tho strike of the wheat-handlers means that over a>million bags stacked in the country will now have to await the disposal of the wool traffic. TRADES UNION CONGRESS ENDS. J London, September 10. The Trades Union Congress has concluded. The Congress instructed its Parliamentary Committee to co-operate with tho Labour party in formulating a scheme for unification of the various Labour sections. Objectors argued that the introduction of politics would bo detrimental to the usefulness of tho Congress.
