UNREST IN CHINA.
ANTI-FOREIGN OUTBREAKS FEARED. liy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Peking, September 8. There is considerable unrest in tho province of Szechuan, chiefly resulting from resentment against tho intervention of foreigners in railway construction. Owing to tho disturbances in the province, tho Viceroy has requested missionaries in tho outlying districts to concentrate in tho Canadian mission compound. All tho foreigners at Chingtu will concentrate in tho towns. Tho British gunboat Widgeon will anchor off tho city of Kiating-fu. THE SITUATION CRITICAL. ' Washington, September 8. Advices from China stato that the situation is critical in Szechuan, where rioting and disorders aro reported to bo in progress. Amorican gunboats have been ordered to co-operato with those of the European Powers.
